A leading global technology company, Microsoft, is seeking an experienced Critical Environment Technician Manager to oversee mission-critical facility operations in Phoenix, Arizona. This role is ideal for professionals with a strong background in data center operations, electrical or mechanical systems, and team leadership.

The selected candidate will manage technical teams, ensure operational excellence, and maintain high-availability infrastructure environments such as data centers and other critical facilities.

Key Responsibilities

1. Team Leadership & People Management

·         Lead and supervise technical teams by promoting accountability, collaboration, and performance excellence.

·         Set clear objectives, guide team members, and support their professional growth.

·         Foster a culture aligned with organizational values and leadership principles.

·         Mentor employees and help them enhance technical and operational capabilities.

2. Critical Systems Operations

·         Act as an operations specialist in areas such as electrical systems, mechanical systems, HVAC, generators, and control systems.

·         Conduct routine inspections of facility infrastructure to identify safety risks or abnormal conditions.

·         Monitor systems using telemetry platforms and building control systems to detect alarms and performance issues.

·         Utilize a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to track assets, manage maintenance requests, and generate operational reports.

·         Lead onsite incident response efforts and coordinate corrective actions during abnormal operating conditions.

·         Develop or follow Emergency Operating Procedures (EOPs), Methods of Procedure (MOPs), and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

·         Perform root cause analysis and create detailed incident reports with corrective action plans.

3. Equipment Maintenance & Technical Oversight

·         Oversee and perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities.

·         Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) in at least one specialized discipline (electrical, mechanical, or controls).

·         Troubleshoot systems, subsystems, and components independently within trained areas.

·         Supervise and coordinate third-party contractors, vendors, and service providers onsite.

·         Ensure all supplier activities comply with safety standards, federal/local regulations, and municipal codes.

·         Provide technical consultation and guidance to junior team members.

Required Qualifications

·         High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent qualification.

·         Minimum 3+ years of mission-critical services experience in environments such as:

o    Data centers

o    Oil & gas refineries

o    Hospitals

o    Pharmaceutical facilities

o    Manufacturing plants

·         At least 1+ year of leadership or supervisory experience managing teams or projects.

·         Equivalent combination of education and work experience may be considered.

Preferred Qualifications

·         5–6+ years of mission-critical infrastructure experience.

·         Associate degree, technical certification, military training, or trade school background (preferred).

·         Experience in a specialized technical field such as electrical, mechanical, or controls engineering.

·         Ability to work 12-hour shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
