Job Overview
H&M is looking for a
detail-oriented Tax Assistant to
support tax and accounting operations within the Finance & Accounting
department. The role focuses on ensuring accurate tax processing, compliance
with local and international tax laws, and timely reporting to government
authorities.
The Tax Assistant will work closely
with the local accounting team while collaborating with global tax stakeholders
to maintain compliance, improve tax processes, and support audits efficiently.
This position is based at the Mexico
City Support Office and reports to the Accounting Manager, with functional
coordination with the Global Tax Team.
Key Responsibilities
As a Tax Assistant, your daily responsibilities will include:
- Performing accounting and tax
adjustments related to supplier tax withholdings.
- Reconciling tax accounts with filed
tax returns and accounting records.
- Reconciling revenue accounts to
ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Preparing income tax and
profit-sharing provisions and recording them periodically.
- Handling intercompany activities
such as issuing electronic invoices and calculating required income tax and VAT
deductions.
- Reviewing tax withholdings in
invoice management systems to ensure correct tax treatment.
- Supporting tax analysis and
reporting activities for the tax coordination team.
- Preparing and monitoring tax,
exogenous, and foreign exchange reports required by authorities.
- Managing compliance reports for
government institutions such as Central Banks, Treasury Departments, and
statistical authorities.
-Handling registrations and updates
with tax and commercial entities (RUT, RIT, Chamber of Commerce).
- Operating tax authority portals
(SAT, DIAN, SRI) to meet statutory obligations.
- Analyzing tax implications on
purchases from foreign suppliers.
- Reviewing import and export
settlement records.
- Issuing withholding certificates to
third parties.
- Supporting VAT refund applications
and related documentation.
- Monitoring compliance with REPSE
requirements and payment complements in Mexico.
- Performing tax-related account
reconciliations using reconciliation tools.
Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Public
Accounting or a related field

Minimum 3 years of experience in accounting and taxation

Working knowledge
of SAP and Microsoft Excel (Intermediate level)

Intermediate English language proficiency

Strong
understanding of local tax regulations

Knowledge of IFRS (International Financial Reporting
Standards)

Strong
analytical, teamwork, and proactive problem-solving skills
